Scoring level

Country

Incident points = category × severity × verification × recency × independent-source bonus. Reports of the same event from multiple outlets are grouped before scoring; child-place incidents roll up once to their parents.

Category points:

assault: 8 · attack: 10 · threat: 5 · vandalism: 3 · harassment: 3 · protest: 3 · other: 3

Severity multipliers:

info: ×0.5 · low: ×0.5 · moderate: ×1 · high: ×2 · critical: ×3

Verification multipliers:

confirmed: ×1 · developing: ×0.6 · unverified: ×0.2. Approved news headlines use moderate severity and the confirmed scoring multiplier; this is not confirmation of a direct threat.

Recency:

0–24h: ×1 · 24–72h: ×0.7 · 72–168h: ×0.35; older incidents score 0.

Sources:

+10% per extra independent outlet, capped at +30%.
